Volunteer Instructor Mike Moran talks about the safety hankie.

The Brainerd Snodeos are proud to offer rider performance classes or “Field Days” to our community! These classes are open to youth ages 11-15 who have completed the online training from snowmobilecourse.com, and include a brief classroom session followed by outdoor practical experience on a snowmobile. Classes are led by our trained volunteer instructors. At the conclusion of the class, students will be granted their snowmobile safety certificates.

We typically hold one class per year, but that is dependent on the number of registrations received. Additional classes may be offered during the season as required to meet demand.

All students MUST be pre-registered to attend! Classroom space is limited!

Available dates will be announced on the Brainerd Snodeos website, or you can also view class availability from the MN DNR’s Hands-on Class Offering page.

In order to register for a field day, the student must have a VALID certificate of completion from the online snowmobile safety course.

No students will be allowed entry to the rider performance course without this.

Students must be pre-registered to attend the field day, and should come prepared for the weather, as they will be outside, on a snowmobile.

You will need to bring:

  • a certificate of completion from snowmobilecourse.com or other MN DNR approved training class
  • a properly fitting helmet
  • proper winter riding gear (boots, snow pants, jacket, gloves, etc.)

Pre-registration and contact information will be posted with the announcement of available classes. Snowmobiles are provided for the hands-on portion of the class.
